First Impressions: The Honor 90 Lite 5G is anything but lightweight

From September 27 to 30, you can pre-order HONOR 90 Lite 5G at your nearest HONOR Experience and Partner Stores or online via Lazada (https://bit.ly/H90Lite5GLaz), Shopee (https://bit.ly/H90Lite5GShopee), and TikTok Shop (https://bit.ly/3ZleihW) to get a FREE HONOR Gift Earbuds worth Php 1,590. HONOR fans can also avail HONOR 90 Lite 5G via Home Credit for as low as Php 521 per month.

The Honor 90 Lite has made landfall on local shores. A younger sibling to the Honor 90, this ‘Lite’ version is anything but. Smartphone manufacturers have made it a habit to release lighter and more affordable versions of certain flagship devices. In the past, Apple released the iPhone SE, Huawei had the P20 Lite, while Samsung released the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition. These were touted to be more affordable versions of their earlier configurations with just a wee bit of compromise on specs, usually in camera quality, screen resolution or battery life.

Now here’s the thing: Honor 90 Lite’s older sibling came packed with a 200MP Triple camera (Ultra Clear, Ultra Wide, Macro). Which means this Lite version runs to town with a 100MP Ultra camera. That doesn’t feel like a downgrade. That’s a good deal staring back at you.

The Honor 90 Lite borrows the HONOR RAM Turbo feature from the Honor X8, allowing more memory to be allocated to RAM. This is really fascinating, as this unit already has a whopping 8GB of RAM, with the ‘turbo’ feature pushing it up by an additional 5GB to 13GB max. For those who are looking for a sub-P15,000 phone that can handle games and deliver loud audio, there’s really nowhere else to look, especially since we’re looking at 256GB of storage.

One thing to take careful note of is that the fingerprint scanner is the power button on the right of the device. Unlocking the phone would mean using your right thumb, which is no problem for right-handed folks. Lefties can comfortably unlock using their left index finger. Another tip: be deliberate in looking for a 3rd party case for this device so as to make sure that the scanner doesn’t get embedded too deep inside the case.

The Honor 90 Lite 5G comes in three colors: Cyan Lake, Titanium Silver, and Midnight Black. All three finishes are smudge-proof but we’re telling you now that the best color is Midnight Black – I mean just look at that close up photo we took.

The Honor 90 Lite is a steal at P12,990.00. This is a welcome golden mean when it comes to price, features, and elegance. It’s going to be tough to find a better deal for a phone at launch price.
