One of the best ways to test the capabilities of a phone is to use them on trips. With the POCO F6, that’s exactly what I did.

PhilSTAR Tech was invited to the POCO F6 Series Launch event held in Dubai last May 23, 2024, and for the trip, I was given the chance to try out the POCO F6.

    The POCO F6 phone specs

    • Processor: Snapdragon 8s Gen 3
    • Camera: 50MP main with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), 8MP ultra-wide, 20MP front
    • Display: 6.67″ CrystalRes AMOLED, 120Hz refresh rate
    • Battery: 5000mAh, 90W Turbo Charging
    • Memory: Up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage
    • Design: Sleek with Black, Green, and Titanium color options
    • OS: Xiaomi HyperOS

    Hands-On Experience in Dubai

The POCO F6 became my reliable companion during my 4-day trip in Dubai. Whether capturing the breathtaking views from the Burj Khalifa or updating my social media constantly, the phone’s performance was consistently impressive.

    Camera Performance

Dubai’s amazing scenery provided the perfect backdrop to test the POCO F6’s camera.

The 50MP main camera with OIS delivered clear and vibrant images, even in low-light conditions.

The ultra-wide camera was excellent for capturing the expansive skylines and desert landscapes, and the 20MP front camera ensured my selfies were always on point.

One standout feature was the AI-enhanced motion tracking which kept fast-moving subjects like birds and cars in focus.

The new portrait mode with a blurred background effect added a professional touch to my photos.

    Display Quality

The 6.67-inch CrystalRes AMOLED display was a treat for my eyes. The 120Hz refresh rate made scrolling through photos and watching videos a satisfying experience.

With peak brightness of up to 2400 nits, even the scorching and blinding Dubai sun couldn’t stop me from using and viewing my screen. Whether reading articles, watching videos or just catching up on chats from home, the display provided sharp visuals with excellent color accuracy.

    Performance and Gaming

The POCO F6 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, and let me tell you that the POCO F6 handled everything I threw at it with ease.

I was particularly impressed with its gaming capabilities. The phone ran my favorite game, Honkai Star Rail, at high settings without breaking a sweat, thanks to the WildBoost Optimization 3.0 and LiquidCool Technology 4.0.

The 5000mAh battery ensured I could use the phone throughout the day without worrying about running out of power. When it did need a recharge, the 90W turbo charging quickly brought it back to 100% in just about 30 minutes.

Is The POCO F6 the phone for YOU?

The POCO F6, from my experience, can be a powerful and versatile device. It’s perfect for young adults who are looking for a flagship performance phone at an affordable (starting price of P21,999) price point.

Its exceptional camera system, immersive display, and robust performance can make it an excellent choice for both everyday use and gaming. Be it making memories during a trip, staying connected while on the go, or keeping up with your gaming dailies while traveling, the POCO F6 will make sure you won’t miss a moment.

And for those who still find 512GB of storage lacking, you’ll be interested know that the POCO F6 Pro (P32,999) has a whopping 16GB+1TB version available.

If there was one thing I had to change with the POCO F6, however, I would have wanted it to have eSim compatibility. Other than that, the POCO F6 is definitely for keeps.
