    AI as artist and critic

What better way to explore the goalposts of art and AI than by combining both? AI isn’t self-aware, but many people seem to think so. This is an experiment of a reimagination of a photo by HONOR Philippines’ own Jet Ignacio, which I transformed into a Warhol-style “art piece.” I even made it more absurd by having an imaginary art critic (yes also generated by AI) critique this piece. So yeah, real photo turned into art by AI, and critiqued by AI. – Jayvee

The original image that was taken by Jet’s colleagues, and then repurposed by ChatGPT.

    Critique generated by ChatGPT:

Titled “Upload,” this contemporary piece transcends its digital aesthetic to explore the entanglement of identity, technology, and consciousness in the information age. The subject—rooted, human, contemplative—sits beneath a web of red cables connecting him to a dozen smartphones, each a node of curated reality. The vibrant tangle suggests both lifeline and leash, illuminating our quiet dependence on hyperconnectivity. As if absorbing the data of a dozen lives at once, the man becomes less an individual and more a conduit—evoking the paradox of modern existence: infinitely informed yet disarmingly disconnected. This work offers a haunting commentary on how the collective hum of devices increasingly supplants the inner voice.
