Technology company Acer is expanding into AI servers, home appliances, smart healthcare, and energy as it prepares for its next 50 years while keeping personal computers at the center of its business.

Andrew Hou, president of Acer Pan Asia Pacific, said PCs remain Acer’s core business, accounting for about 33% to 34% of total revenue. However, newer businesses already contribute more than 30% of the company’s revenue in Asia, showing how Acer is reducing its dependence on traditional computers.

AI servers are among Acer’s biggest growth opportunities. These powerful computers provide the computing capacity needed to train and operate artificial intelligence systems. Acer plans to pursue this market through Altos, its enterprise computing business.

Acer is also expanding its industrial PC business. Unlike ordinary desktop computers, industrial PCs are designed to operate continuously in factories, stores, hospitals, and other demanding environments. Point-of-sale systems used by retailers and restaurants are closely related to these machines because they must remain reliable during long operating hours.

For ordinary consumers, Acer is growing its Acerpure home appliance business. The brand currently offers seven product lines and more than 10 products in the Philippines.

Acerpure is moving from smaller appliances into larger household products, beginning with split-type air conditioners. Refrigerators and washing machines could eventually be added to its lineup.

Even with the expansion, Sue Ong-Lim, managing director of Acer Philippines, said the company will continue strengthening its PC business and making computers more accessible to students, professionals, and everyday users.

Acer sees room for growth as newer AI applications require faster processors, more memory, and better battery performance. It also plans to offer lighter and more affordable models to encourage consumers to replace older laptops.

In the Philippines, Acer held a 37.9% share of the retail mobile computing market from January to July 2026, based on Nielsen-GfK data provided by the company. Its share reached a record 41% in July.

Acer attributed its local performance to consistent brand building and a distribution network of eight distributors and thousands of dealers. These partners also help explain new products and technologies to customers.

Over the next three to five years, Acer also plans to promote longer product use through repairs. Globally, it aims to use 100% renewable electricity by 2035 and achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
